Post-trade compliance monitoring
Post-trade compliance monitoring tests a portfolio’s actual holdings against its investment restrictions after trades settle and prices move, usually daily.
Post-trade monitoring checks what the portfolio holds, not what it intends to buy. It catches passive breaches from market moves and redemptions, trades that bypassed pre-trade checks, and rules that cannot be tested before a trade. Many teams run it daily on the previous day’s positions and prices.
Its reliability depends on the data. Stale prices, unreconciled positions or unclassified holdings can make a portfolio look compliant when it is not. A result built on incomplete data should say so rather than report a pass.
In Acclimetry, monitoring runs produce immutable results in eight result states, from compliant, warning and breach to not evaluated for data quality. Each result carries a reason code, value, headroom and top contributors. Missing data is never read as compliant (data quality).
